We were meant to launch a new perfume this summer. Pineapple with oud. Bright on top, dark underneath. We were so close but then the heatwaves came. One after another. The driest summer on record. And somewhere in that, the ingredients changed on us.
Drought does something to raw materials. It dries them out and concentrates them. The oils we had been working with came back stronger. Harsher. Louder than when we started. The pineapple that used to sparkle now shouted. The oud lost none of its depth and gained an edge.
In some ways this was a gift. The scent got bolder. It lasted longer on skin.
But the balance was gone. The thing we had spent months getting right no longer added up. It was a different perfume to the one we began with. So we started again. From the beginning.
We are nearly there now. It will be out next summer, made with the intense ingredients that summer 2026 gave us.
We did not plan it this way. We are glad it happened.
